Is the PSVR2 any good for VR porn?
The Playstation VR2 headset was released in late February 2023, receiving positive reviews for delivering a high-quality VR gaming experience to the mainstream. However, when used for Playstation VR porn it fails on multiple key factors. Read on for our detailed look at why the PSVR2 is a terrible choice for PSVR porn users.
It might be a great machine for VR gaming, but when it comes to PSVR porn, the PSVR2 falls behind on many important elements, and PS5 porn and Playstation porn is widely-regarded as a non-starter. Here’s what you need to know:
Lacks access to all the next-gen VR porn features
Thanks to SLR’s hardworking devs, VR porn tech has leapt forward over the past year or two. The world’s best VR platform has pushed VR technology to all–new heights, offering passthrough technology which puts the action in your own surroundings, build-your-own-journey functionality so users can create and share their own unique stories, and many more besides.
Due to technical limitations, the PSVR2 cannot support any of these features, meaning, at best, the user would be left with the most basic functionality, that fails to showcase just how immersive and engaging VR content is in 2023. For example, passthrough has to be supported by DeoVR on PSVR, but Deo is not available for the PSVR.
No interactive haptic toys
The PSVR2 is not set up to support interactive adult sex toys, such as The Handy, or any of the other haptic devices supported by SLR on the Quest, Pico or PCVR VR headsets. This means PSVR2 users would miss out on one of the fastest-growing and most popular elements of the modern adult VR experience.
SexLikeReal is leading the way in haptics, by developing new features and functions all the time, as well as developing new multi-axis functionality, AI scripts and designing the most advanced stroker around, set to be released next year. The PSVR2 is unable to use any of these exciting features.
Expensive
With a launch price of $549.99 / £529.99/ €599.99, the PSVR 2 is more expensive than all the current generation of all-in-one VR headsets, apart from the Quest Pro - although even that is coming down in price. As well as this, you need a PS5 gaming machine to make things work, making the total cost nearly double this price.
Requires cable
Along with all the other drawbacks, the PSVR2 also requires a constant connection to the PS5 via a cable. As yet, WiFi connectivity is not an option. This isn’t an immediate deal-breaker, particularly as some popular PCVR headsets also require cable connection. Still, it does mean the VR experience is a lot less comfy than that offered by standalone headsets offered by Meta and PICO.
Conclusion
The PSVR2 may be an excellent VR gaming machine, bringing PC-quality VR game experiences to PS5 owners and the mainstream gaming community at large, but just like the underwhelming PS4 VR porn experience, it will never be a suitable machine for VR porn. Treat it like the Google Cardboard or Samsung Gear - useful tools for their time, but manifestly unsuited for immersive x-rate VR activities.
How to watch VR porn on the PSVR
Are you wondering how to watch porn on the Playstation VR? We have bad news. While this was possible on the PS4, with a very early version of SLR, the image quality was poor compared to other headsets at the time, such as PCVR models like the Valve Index and Oculus Rift, due to the technical limitation of the PS4 and the first PSVR headset. It was possible but failed to demonstrate just how powerful VR porn could truly be.
Now, technology has moved at a rapid rate and these differences are even more stark. Various features that are seen by many as necessary for a true VR porn experience simply cannot be used on the PSVR2 or PS5, despite the improved firepower. If you want a true VR porn experience, you'll simply need to buy one of the modern generation of VR headsets - some of which are very affordable compared to the high price of the PSVR2.
