Comparing Bitrate in VR Porn: Blind Test with AV1, HEVC & Master
How much does bitrate affect what you see in VR porn? We ran a blind test with three versions of the same video on SexLikeReal to find out.
For this test, we’re using Nympho Alchemy: Too Much Isn't Enough starring the stunning Lucy Foxx. All three videos use the same source scene, but were encoded differently:

Blind Test Results:
- 6361_fisheye190.mp4 - Transcoded AV1 stream
- 6362_fisheye190.mp4 - Transcoded HEVC stream
- 6363_fisheye190.mp4 - Original master file (120 Mbps)
This comparison highlights key factors:
- AV1 (6361) provides excellent compression efficiency, meaning smaller file sizes for similar visual quality, but requires more processing power.
- HEVC (6362) is widely supported and strikes a good balance between quality and compatibility.
- Master (6363) is the untouched 120 Mbps source - massive in size, but visually lossless.
In a streaming environment, AV1 offers clear potential for bandwidth savings without a big hit in perceived quality, especially at 8K. But depending on your device, HEVC might still offer smoother performance.
