SLR and AI Deepfakes: A clarification
There has been some confusion recently about SexLikeReal's use of the latest AI technology so we'd like to put the record straight. Consent is at the heart of everything we do at SLR, and always has been. We pride ourselves on running an ethical adult platform and go the extra mile to ensure this. Please read the below statement from our CEO Alex Novak for a full explanation of our stance on this delicate topic.
Statement
"SexLikeReal is primarily a technology-driven company and we work with leading experts in the fields of computer vision and machine learning. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of technology to create a world-beating playground where consenting adults can safely explore their sexuality.
We are also very aware of our responsibilities. Not only in terms of regulation and the law, but also to do what is ethically correct. We care about all the performers who appear in the content we host; in fact at SexLikeReal, we hope to lead the industry by establishing a scheme to allow performers to earn royalties on the scenes they appear in on SexLikeReal, paid for by us, regardless of who they shot with.
The rapid developments in A.I. technology are exciting, but also pose ethical questions. To be clear; consent is paramount. While the mainstream A.I. companies may be "training" themselves on any data they can find, without necessarily obtaining a license or consent, we don't think this approach is appropriate for something so sensitive as adult entertainment.
Our explorations in this field are based on model masks and dialog substitution where we have permission to do so. To be clear, we will never use anyone's likeness in ways they have not willingly agreed to. Ever.
We want people to be able to live out their fantasies safely and consensually, and we want performers to be able to continue to earn long into the future."
