Help SLR compare the difference between OpenXR and Android Overlay
The SexLikeReal dev-team is exploring the differences between the OpenXR equirect layer and the Android Overlay equirect layer, to see which is better to improve quality in the future. You can help out by using a specially-designed tool to find out which you prefer.
SLR currently uses Android Overlay to display non-180° fisheye (most other players don’t support this). It also impacts how the image is rendered and processed.
The experiment involves adding the OpenXR equirect layer and comparing between the two. Focus on differences in terms of quality (the details of the image) and colors.
To take part, follow these instructions:
- Download the Oculus Quest 2 APK file
- Install using Sidequest
- Reduce the volume to avoid the audio pop-up
- Run the app and select an equirectangular video (most scenes not produced by SLR Originals)
- (Optional) When viewing the video, pause it and move to whatever position you want in order to get the same frame, otherwise, it might seem that they are out of sync
- Then hold the Grip + A button for a different layer and release it, to go back to previous
Keep in mind:
- This tool works only on equirectangular videos
- Do not use any of the transforms
- Reset everything to their defaults
- This build is unstable so it might crash - if this happens simply restart the app
- When there is no picture, restart the app
- Let SLR know which image you prefer - the one when you hold Grip + A, or the one when you don't (remember: this is not comparing performance, only the image)
